My younger daughter’s wedding gown was such a special masterpiece to create. She found two dresses by Maggie Sottero and asked me to combine them. The first thing I did was look for “Maggie Sottero lace” on eBay. There, I found a Maggie Sottero dress in my daughters size and just so happened to be one of the dresses she liked. I ran the idea by her and she was really on board with buying a previously worn/second hand wedding gown. When you think about it, it was probably only worn for maybe 8 hours. We ordered it and when we received it in the mail, it fit my daughter like a glove! It was meant to be!
So you’re probably thinking, you’re a seamstress not to mention who specializes in wedding gowns, wouldn’t I be making my daughter’s wedding dress? While I had dreamed of creating my daughter’s one of a kind wedding dress, this happened to be just too good to pass up. When we got the dress we were thinking of what alterations needed or could be done to make it really personalized for her. We opted to go with a champagne colored under layer and swap the original white. So while it wasn’t a completely custom dress, I was able to make it exactly how she wanted it and that’s what truly made me happy.
I created her a custom veil to go with her gown and a custom purple garter for her special day. I also got to design the flower girl’s dress and ring bearer’s pillow.
